I joined Crytek in 2011 and have been working in games since 2008.</p><p></p><h1><span><strong>In your project, what were the elements where Marvelous Designer was used?</strong></span></h1><p>On Hunt: Showdown we used Marvelous Designer extensively on player characters and AI. Pretty much all the clothing in the game was created with Marvelous Designer. We also used it for certain pieces of gear, such as pouches and backpacks. Additionally, the environment/props team also used Marvelous Designer for some of their assets.</p><p></p><img src="https://storagefiles.clo-set.com/public/community/202501/08f279f432064ece94e6e5f86984fb66/images/f7d8cb7281e14a13835fe79613424452MD_02Cases_3.png" class="custom-image original-size" data-id="f7d8cb7281e14a13835fe79613424452" data-width="1180" data-height="610"><h1><span><strong>Why did you use Marvelous Designer for these creatures?</strong></span></h1><p>Hunt: Showdown started small, but even then we needed to generate a substantial number of assets in a relatively short timeframe, and Marvelous Designer proved extremely helpful in that regard. Beyond just generating individual garments quickly, once you build up an asset library, the process for adding new content gets faster and faster. From changing the fit to ripping up garments for zombies to utilizing an existing garment as a starting point for something new, Marvelous Designer allows for some pretty cool workflows and shortcuts. Sculpting drapery by hand can be challenging, and not all artists are equally skilled and/or experienced in doing it. Marvelous Designer allows for very high and constituent levels of quality to be put out by artists with varying experience levels.</p><p></p><img src="https://storagefiles.clo-set.com/public/community/202501/08f279f432064ece94e6e5f86984fb66/images/deaebe609f524651bac60f425936a637MD_02Cases_4.png" class="custom-image original-size" data-id="deaebe609f524651bac60f425936a637" data-width="1180" data-height="610"><h1><span><strong>Would you recommend Marvelous Designer to other CG artists and why?</strong></span></h1><p>I think Marvelous Designer is currently the single-best solution for generating realistic garments in games. The turnaround times are quicker with than traditional sculpting, and the end-results look more natural than what could be achieved by hand. Also, the tool really puts the focus on garment design and fit, which is great from an artistic perspective.</p><p></p>
