In Japan, many female students found their winter uniforms aren't sufficiently warm, and skirts make bicycle riding difficult. Additionally, their winter uniforms require dry-cleaning and this can pose challenges for frequent washing. In recent years, some schools have introduced alternatives to skirts for female students.
