CONCEPTEvery project starts with a brainstorm. For this one, I knew exactly what outfit I wanted - all pieces were worn by a DJ for a photoshoot, and the leather bralette was designed and made by me IRL.Her style is dark and moody - so the 3D setup had to match: concrete, flashing police lights, laid back pose.⸻2. GARMENT CREATION in Clo3D• Bra + belt: made from scratch using pattern tools.• Pants, jacket, gloves: pulled from other creators’ files and modified.Making renders look realistic:• Placement matters. Layers (belt with loops, bralette under jacket) need to sit correctly — freeze/strengthen tools are your friends.• Avoid collision by upping Add Thickness – Collision in the pattern’s properties.• Apply bonding for pieces that must hold shape (belt loops, belts, stiff pattern pieces).• Topstitches + the 3D effect = chef’s kiss realism.• Adjust thickness/weight so the garment behaves like its real-world version.• Particle distance: 0.8 for small pieces, 5 for everything else. SCENE CREATION in Blender• Built simple props + floor using free textures (Poly Haven / AmbientCG).• Added grayscale noise textures for grain/imperfections.• Exported as .OBJ and imported to Clo3D.⸻5. NAIL CREATION in Clo3D• Built from fabric pieces (yes, nails made from fabric, we love it).• Positioned manually on fingers.• Can’t be accessories because… rigging.• Saved as part of full .ZPRJ file.⸻6. POSE• Used AI pose generator from a photo reference.• Result: avatar floating mid-air (AI still can’t do perspective, apparently).• Fixed manually via joint adjustments.• Applied pose in parts:• Lower garments first• Upper garments second• Combined, froze/strengthened, then adjusted until everything behaved. Nails last.⸻7. AVATAR EXPORT from Clo3D• FBX, unrigged, after all customizations.2. GARMENT EXPORT from Clo3D• UV map everything (follow <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjBC11GmN6g&amp;t=749s">this tutorial</a>).• Export as OBJ.3. IMPORT to Blender• Import avatar, then garments.• Apply texture maps with shader nodes (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF1HFDOigEE&amp;t=1352s">this tutorial</a>).⸻4. CIGARETTE ANIMATION• Separate Blender file for the cigarette (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sku8MrLykN0">tutorial</a>).• Parent all cigarette parts to an empty object for easy importing.• Noise modifier settings: scale = 25, strength = 0.3, phase = 5. FLICKERING LIGHTS• Blue/red spotlights = police lights.• Flicker pattern with shapekeys.• Flicker slowed to 3× real speed for drama.⸻6. CAMERA MOVEMENTS• Keyframed manually.• Smoothed in Graph Editor (automatic easing + auto clamped handles).• Edited timing and movements in graph editor.• Tested in solid mode for smoothness.⸻7. LOGO LIGHT ANIMATION• Imported transparent PNG logo.• Applied to spotlight via Image Texture Node.• Animated flicker with keyframes.⸻8. FINAL RENDER• 25 FPS, 65 samples.• 575 frames (~23 sec).• Fade-in/out + soundtrack added in post.⸻Could I go into even more detail? Yes. Here it's my entry for the #connectofficial #APTchallenge. As you can see, the outfit is the famous Rainbow Dress worn by Joy from @redvelvet.smtown I recreated it with the idea of presenting it to the Connect's Kpop Mirror contest, but later, I changed my mind and decided to use it just for this challenge.It's my first time rendering a video this long, I had my computer working for hours!
