Fungi Eden imagines a world where nature and technology don't compete, but grow together. I started with something simple: the layered shape of tree fungi, the way they spread and grow in quiet balance with whatever they're growing on. I wanted to take that shape and push it into something futuristic, a structure that feels protective, almost alive, like it's still growing. The city of Eden from Final Fantasy XIII was a big reference point too, especially the way its architecture blurs the line between organic and built, utopian and strange.The oversized back piece is the heart of the piece, an exaggerated mushroom growing straight out of the body, as if the wearer has become the tree it's growing from. I wasn't interested in harvesting nature for this; I wanted something closer to coexistence, where the fungal forms feel like real extensions of the body rather than decoration borrowed from it. The shelf-like layers stacking around the silhouette work almost like growth rings, each one a record of time passing, of something still becoming.Materials carry a lot of that tension between natural and artificial. Transparent layers and metallic surfaces nod to the speculative, almost architectural feel of Eden, while the knitted mesh and soft ruffles are meant to feel more like mycelium, networks, spores, something quietly alive underneath the structure. The whole piece sits in that in-between space: not nature versus technology, but technology learning to grow the way nature does.
