Recently, I've been working on the project Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, a VR quest adventure game released on multiple platforms. In this article, I'm going to talk about the workflow of using Marvelous Designer in Environment art for games.<h1>Pipeline Overview</h1>A little bit of story first. In Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, the ability to travel in time sends the player to ancient Mayan Civilization when the Spanish Empire was continuing its conquest of the Americas. Spanish conquistadors used a large variety of tents and movable shelters in their camps. In order to create them, I used Marvelous Designer in my pipeline, along with my other tools such as Maya, Marmoset Toolbag, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.At the beginning, we started with a simple blockout to get shapes and sizes right for the player in VR. When it was done, I made a fabric layout for future tents and canopies in Maya, keeping the proper UV layout to use as a pattern in Marvelous Designer. At this stage, it is important to already know how many texture sets you will be able to use; in my case, it was 2 texture sets for an entire camp, including large fabric parts and little dressing details. In a result I've got two sets of meshes, low and high poly. The next step was creating a UV layout and adding details such as ropes, cones, and wood poles in Maya. Because on the output from Marvelous Designer, you got clean meshes with already unwrapped UV's, we can skip the geometry cleaning and UV unwrapping in Maya, which saves us some time.Now it's is baking and texturing stage. I've added patterns, seams and stitches, alongside with fabric micro details in Substance Painter. I love this stage, it's like a rendering, you already see the final result.The final stage is the assembly of a variety of tents and canopies in Maya, using premade parts. Here, I need to create collision models and lightmaps to use them in the Engine. If your fabric components will be attached to some other hard parts, it's better to make them in your 3D package (3DsMax, Maya, Blender, etc.) and import them into Marvelous to keep the connection precise.<h1>Future Plans</h1>It is not the first time I'm using Marvelous Designer in my workflow. Previously, I've used it for environment art and concept design often. Marvelous is part of my main toolset, and I'm going to use it again soon, in my project.<h1>Overall Experience</h1>In this article, I've described the process of creating tents and canopies, but I used Marvelous for multiple assets during the development of Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate. Certainly, Marvelous Designer saves a lot of time when working with cloth simulation and provides the best result. En GS70 usé avatares de DAZ Studio exportados a FBX e importados en CLO.Asegúrate de que el avatar está en T-pose o A-pose antes de la importación (yo lo hago con "Autoconvertir en Avatar") y no olvides revisar el cabello, para que CLO pueda importarlo debes activar la teselación (yo suelo usar un valor de 2). ¡Ah! Si dentro de CLO no ves las cejas selecciona todo el avatar y pon la opacidad al máximo. When did you start to learn Marvelous Designer, and what motivated you to start in the first place?</h1>I started out with 2D and most of all I liked to draw characters. But then I thought that it would be interesting to see my characters from all angles, and I decided to start mastering 3D programs. I've watched a lot of YouTube channels about 3D. And one day I came across a tutorial about clothes creation in Marvelous Designer (sometime in 2018). And it turned out to be my dream program. I've always enjoyed drawing and sewing clothes. And I realized that I want to grow in this direction with Marvelous Designer's help.<h1>3. How do you start with your design in Marvelous Designer?</h1>Before I start creating clothes in Marvelous Designer, I pick up a lot of references and save them in PureRef. I find references on Pinterest, Instagram, or just Google. <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://discord.com/invite/HAh568h">In the Marvelous Designer Discord channel (LINK)</a> also has a pattern-reference section with links to sites where you can find interesting patterns. If I want to make a garment with a complicated design, I try to find a pattern-reference. If I make a historical costume, I also look for patterns to make the clothes as authentic as possible. And if I find a pattern, I import it into the 2D window and trace it with the Polygon tool. But even with this method, you have to adapt the patterns to your avatar. Especially for historical clothes, since historical clothes are based on people of that time and their body parameters differ from standard Marvelous Designer or DAZ Studio avatars. You can use Modular Configurator patterns to create modern clothes.&nbsp;<h1>4. We'd like to see your favorite artworks. If you import them as Avatar, they will have to be moved manually. Also pay attention to the properties of these objects in the Property Editor, such as Skin Offset, Static and Kinetic Friction, Weight and Collision. I make hats, bags and shoes in Marvelous Designer. For this purpose, I mostly use the Trim_Full_Grain_Leather and Leather_Lambskin presets. To create the curves of the shape help internal lines (indicating a certain bending angle)&nbsp; and Tack. Can you tell us your process for one of the artworks, including how you used Marvelous Designer and other tools?</h1>I use standard free avatars from DAZ Studio (Daz_Genesis 8 female, male). I export the avatar in A-pose in COLLADA format (.dae). In Marvelous Designer there are several avatar settings. If you want your clothes to fit more closely to the avatar, set Skin Offset 1 or 0. If you want your clothes not to slide on the avatar, increase the Static and Kinetic Friction settings. I don't use the measurements on the avatar when I build it, I build it by eye. And then I adjust it to the avatar. First, I make the base of the corset and the skirt. I use a tack on the avatar in the center of the corset, so the corset would fit better to the avatar. Hello!I let my macbook pro rendering all night but it stopped. I’m doing a turntable animation. (A + B is the triangle base)A = BBut while doing this I want both sides of the triangle (C and D) adapt themselves to the movement of the triangle base dynamically.So the A + B measurement increases. (I want to set It to the specific bicep line measurement.)Also C + D measurements increases.It will be still A = B.Is there a fetaure for It?
