"Mãe d’Água" is an ancient, narrow path in Trás-os-Montes, Portugal, a trail of stone, mud, and darkness where my mother taught me to walk to avoid the dangers of the asphalt, forcing me to always watch where I stepped. Guided only by the sound of running water and the protective embrace of mossy schist stone walls, this path engraved my very first connection with the organic world onto the soles of my feet. It is my safety net, my umbilical cord.Intersecting this memory with the "Mycelium Bytes" theme, I realized that the Mãe d’Água path and mycelium share the exact same premise: they are invisible, underground, ancestral networks that transport life, information, and direction in the complete absence of light. What biology calls mycelium and technology calls bytes, I call origin. This look materializes that symbiosis through meticulous technical and conceptual design. The silhouette anchors its weight and volume at the bottom, pulling the body toward the soil with heavy, wide-legged trousers that evoke the raw, organic texture of the earth and rock. In contrast, the upper body features sharp asymmetry and bare skin, exposing human vulnerability. The olive-green top wraps the neck and arms like protective foliage or a biological system climbing a structure.Through digital fabric layering and high-contrast specular maps, the textures simulate a wet, raw environment. The virtual garment captures the essence of a hidden network: where the asphalt is avoided, the biological network (mycelium) and the digital network of memory (bytes) merge. "Mãe d’Água" is the proof that even when creating inside a closed garage studio through a screen, the living mycelium of my roots continues to run through my hands and feed my digital seams.
